CIT 105 Microcomputer Applications I

 

 

Course Description:

This course introduces the student to basic computer terminology and teaches the student how to use a word processing application, to access the Internet, evaluate information found on the World Wide Web, and build a simple web page.

Student Outcomes:

At the conclusion of this course, the student will be familiar with
1.  Basic Computer Components & Windows XP file management
2.  Word 2002 software application
3.  Ability to access the Internet and the WWW and build a web page

 

 

Procedures to Attain Student Outcomes:

Classroom lectures and lab demonstrations using student terminals will be the main media.  The student will be assigned numerous exercises and 2 comprehensive final projects to gain facility with the applications covered.  There will be frequent quizzes and two major tests.

 

 

Grading:

Your grade will be determined by the ratio of the total number of points that you earn divided by the total points possible.

Attendance:  Punctuality and attendance throughout the entire class is required.  Since one cannot participate if he is not in attendance, participation points will be deducted each absence without documented excuses. Quizzes will be usually given on the previous day's homework.  No quizzes may be made up.  The lowest quiz grade will be dropped.  Only with documented substantial reason will an exam be rescheduled for make-up.

 

Homework:  Assigned each class.  Assignments will be collected and some or all of the projects  will be graded.  Late assignments will receive only partial credit.
