Developmental Biology

Developmental biology is a course that covers the changes which occur throughout the lifespan of an organism. It begins with the process of fertilization and ends with the death of the organism. One can divide the lifespan into four separate stages: prenatal development (embryology), postnatal development, maturation, and senescence. This discipline not only encompasses the descriptive anatomical science but includes the analysis of factors underlying the complex changes that make up the proces. This requires info0rmation and concepts from physiology, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology and genetics.
